Alpha galactosidase (EC3.2.1.22) belongs to the exoglycosidases which are widely distributed in humans, animals, plants, fungi and prokaryotic organisms. The enzyme can effectively hydrolyze α-galactoside into available sugars, eliminate its anti-nutritional effects, and thereby improve the utilization of energy and protein of feed raw materials. It has been widely used in medicine and feed industry.

Definition of the unit of the enzyme activity: One unit (IU) is defined as the enzyme needed to hydrolyze 1.5 mg/ml of p-nitrophenyl-α-D-galactopyranoside to release 1 μmol of p-nitrophenyl at pH 5.5 and 37°C in 1 min.
Application:
Soybean meal contains many anti-nutritional factors such as α-1,6-galactosides (also known as gas producing factors). Monogastric animals lack α-1,6-galactosidase and are unable to break down these substances. The addition of α-galactosidase can break down α-galactosides, and thus improve the utilization of energy and protein, reduce the production cost, increase feed intake, improve the production performance, and reduce excretion of fecal nitrogen and environmental pollution. The recommended amount to be added is 3-5 g/ton of compound feed.

Storage:
Store in dry and cool (below 25°C) area with ventilation. During transportation, avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight, rain and moisture. The enzymes will lose activity at high temperature or under strong sunlight. The enzyme activity can be maintained up to 90% for 6 months when stored at room temperature.
